Welding machinery is a device used to achieve metal connection. It uses heating, pressurization or both, with or without filler materials, to achieve atomic bonding of welded parts, thus forming a strong joint. Welding machinery occupies an extremely important position in modern industrial production and is an indispensable key equipment in the manufacturing industry.

There are many types of welding machinery, and common classification methods include classification by welding process and degree of automation. According to the welding process, it can be divided into arc welding equipment, such as manual arc welding machine, gas shielded arc welding machine, submerged arc welding machine, etc. Manual arc welding machine uses the arc heat generated between the electrode and the weldment to melt the electrode and the weldment. It is flexible to operate and is suitable for welding in various positions and various metal materials; gas shielded arc welding machine uses gas as a protective medium to isolate the harmful effects of air on the molten pool and ensure welding quality. Common ones include argon arc welding machine, carbon dioxide gas shielded welding machine, etc. Resistance welding equipment, such as spot welding machines, seam welding machines, butt welding machines, etc., use the resistance heat generated by the current passing through the contact point of the weldment to locally heat the weldment to a plastic or molten state, and then apply pressure to form a welded joint. It is mainly used for thin plate welding and dissimilar metal welding. Laser welding equipment focuses a high-energy laser beam on the surface of the weldment to quickly melt and solidify the material to achieve welding. It has the advantages of fast welding speed, high precision, and small heat-affected zone. It is often used for welding precision parts and micro devices. According to the degree of automation, it can be divided into manual welding equipment, semi-automatic welding equipment, and fully automatic welding equipment. Manual welding equipment requires manual operation to complete the entire welding process; semi-automatic welding equipment is manually controlled by welding movement, and welding power supply and wire feeding are automatically completed; fully automatic welding equipment can automatically complete the entire welding process under program control, which is suitable for large-scale, repetitive welding production.

Different types of welding machinery have different working principles. Taking the gas shielded arc welding machine as an example, during welding, the current output by the welding power source passes through the welding gun, so that an arc is generated between the welding rod (or welding wire) and the weldment. The high temperature of the arc causes the welding rod and the weldment to partially melt to form a molten pool. At the same time, the shielding gas is ejected from the nozzle of the welding gun to form a protective gas curtain around the molten pool to prevent the oxygen, nitrogen, etc. in the air from having a harmful effect on the molten pool and ensure the welding quality.

Welding machinery is widely used in many fields. In the automobile manufacturing industry, it is used for welding of body frames and parts, and the welding quality and precision are extremely high, which directly affects the safety and performance of the car.
