Polyurethane electronic adhesive is an adhesive based on polyurethane chemical system specially used in the electronics field. It uses the unique properties of polyurethane materials to achieve strong bonding, sealing and protection between electronic components, and plays an important role in the manufacturing and maintenance of electronic equipment.
In terms of ingredients, polyurethane electronic adhesive is mainly composed of polyurethane prepolymer, curing agent, plasticizer, filler and other additives. Polyurethane prepolymer is the core component of adhesive. It is made by the reaction of polyol and polyisocyanate. Its structure contains a large number of carbamate groups, which gives the adhesive good flexibility and bonding properties. The role of the curing agent is to cross-link with the polyurethane prepolymer to transform the adhesive from liquid to solid to achieve the bonding function. Common curing agents include aliphatic or aromatic polyisocyanates. Different curing agents will affect the curing speed and curing performance of the adhesive. Plasticizers are used to increase the flexibility and plasticity of adhesives, reduce their hardness and brittleness, and improve their adaptability to different materials. Commonly used plasticizers include phthalates. Fillers can improve the physical properties of adhesives, such as increasing strength, reducing costs, and adjusting viscosity. Common fillers include calcium carbonate, talcum powder, and silica. In addition, some additives are added, such as catalysts to accelerate the curing reaction, promoters to increase the curing degree of adhesives, and antioxidants to prevent the aging of adhesives during use and extend their service life.
Polyurethane electronic adhesives have a series of excellent properties. First of all, it has good flexibility, which enables it to effectively buffer the stress caused by temperature changes, mechanical vibrations and other factors when bonding electronic components, and avoid component damage or bonding failure caused by stress concentration. It is especially suitable for bonding electronic components such as flexible circuit boards (FPCs) that require high flexibility. Secondly, it has excellent chemical corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of a variety of chemical substances, such as common acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and organic solvents, ensuring that the connection parts of electronic equipment remain stable in complex chemical environments. Furthermore, polyurethane electronic adhesives have good electrical insulation properties, which can effectively prevent leakage inside electronic equipment and ensure the normal operation of electronic equipment. In addition, it also has good high and low temperature resistance. It will not become brittle in low temperature environments, nor soften or decompose in high temperature environments. According to different characteristics and application scenarios, polyurethane electronic adhesives can be divided into various types. According to the curing method, it can be divided into room temperature curing type and heating curing type. Room temperature curing polyurethane electronic adhesives are easy to use and do not require additional heating equipment. They are suitable for on-site maintenance and bonding of some temperature-sensitive electronic components; heating curing types can be quickly cured under heating conditions, improve production efficiency, and are suitable for large-scale industrial production. According to function, they can be divided into general type, thermal conductive type and conductive type. General-purpose polyurethane electronic adhesives have basic bonding and protection functions and are widely used in the assembly of general electronic equipment; thermally conductive polyurethane electronic adhesives are added with fillers with high thermal conductivity, such as aluminum oxide and boron nitride, which can effectively conduct the heat generated by electronic components and reduce the temperature of components. They are often used in electronic equipment that requires heat dissipation, such as power modules, LED lamps, etc.; conductive polyurethane electronic adhesives are added with conductive fillers, such as silver powder and copper powder, so that they have good conductivity and can be used to achieve electrical connections between electronic components, such as in some radio frequency circuits, for connecting antennas and circuit boards.
