Metalworking fluid is a type of functional liquid used in the metalworking process. It plays a key role in improving processing efficiency, ensuring processing quality and extending tool life. Grinding fluids are used for grinding processes and need to have good cooling, cleaning and lubrication properties to help the grinding wheel stay sharp and prevent burns and cracks on the workpiece surface. Molding fluid is used in metal forming processes such as forging, stamping, drawing, etc. It can reduce the friction between metal and mold, reduce the forming force, ensure the forming quality, and prevent damage to the workpiece and mold surface. Rust-proof fluid is used to prevent metal from rusting during processing, storage and transportation. It prevents oxygen, moisture, etc. from contacting the metal by forming a protective film on the metal surface, thus playing an anti-rust role.
Metalworking fluid is mainly composed of base oil, water, and additives. Base oil is an important component of metalworking fluid and is divided into mineral oil, synthetic oil and vegetable oil. Mineral oil has low cost and wide source, but poor biodegradability; synthetic oil has excellent performance, such as high temperature stability and antioxidant properties, but the cost is relatively high; vegetable oil has good biodegradability and lubricity, and is an ideal choice for environmentally friendly metalworking fluids. Water is the main component of aqueous solutions and emulsions, has good cooling performance, low cost and abundant resources. There are many types of additives, including oily additives, extreme pressure additives, rust inhibitors, bactericides, defoamers, etc. Oily additives form a lubricating film on the metal surface through physical adsorption to improve lubrication performance; extreme pressure additives react chemically with the metal surface under high temperature and high pressure to form a chemical reaction film to prevent direct contact with the metal surface and reduce wear; rust inhibitors can form a protective film on the metal surface to prevent metal rust; bactericides inhibit the growth and reproduction of microorganisms to prevent metalworking fluids from deteriorating and stinking; defoamers eliminate the foam generated during processing to ensure the normal use of processing fluids.
